The real problem is not the object
A lid, a hinge, a latch, a hand tool — something everyone thinks they already
understand. What people assume the object is for, the obvious improvement they reach for,
the actual system problem underneath, and the contradiction nobody named.
What this demonstrates: why
the first job of a Concept Review is to restate the problem, not to solve the stated
one.

No Joule Left Behind
Waste heat, motion, time, data, attention, and material are usually recorded as loss.
Before accepting the loss, ask whether it contains a resource, a warning, a signal, or a
design opportunity.
What this demonstrates: how
one habit of attention turns an accepted inefficiency back into an open question.

Before you build, map the system
The working board, in order: problem, environment, user, constraints, mission,
interfaces, contradictions, unknowns, next validation step. A prototype is expensive. A
wrong prototype is more expensive.
What this demonstrates: the
shape of the deliverable a client actually receives.
